New Round Insert Cutter Ups Productivity Ten To One In Deep, Narrow Cavities

Sandvik Coromant's new CoroMill(R) 300 round insert cutter speeds machining by up to ten to one in die and mold, aerospace and turbine blade milling applications. Thanks to its low cutting forces and low heat generation, the toroid-shaped endmill can handle feed rates up to ten times higher than conventional cutters. It is ideal for high speed machining (HSM) of materials from soft aluminum to hardened steel. Designed for multi-axis milling, the CoroMill 300 is available in long shank versions for machining deep closed pockets and narrow cavities with shallow radial and axial cuts. New CoroMill 300 endmills and holding tools with threaded couplings are especially well suited for long reach operations where vibrations can pose a problem. Shorter cutters are also available for increased stability in surface profiling and contouring applications.

The CoroMill 300 comes in diameters ranging from 0.375 in. to 0.750 in., and 10 to 25 mm. Precision ground inserts are available for a variety of materials in carbide grades GC1025, GC4040, GC2040 and CT530. A torque wrench is available to ensure secure, accurate insert clamping and eliminate the risk of over-tightening the insert screws.
