Original Press Release:

Ultra-Compact Binary Output Rotary Switches

APEM's P60A series switches fulfill the need for providing binary coded decimal, hexadecimal and complements outputs in applications that include angular, linear and positioning controls, channel and frequency selecting, operating and process control sequencing and many others.

10 position binary coded decimal or complement models and 16 position hexadecimal or complements models are offered in this series in either surface or thru-hole mounting configurations. A right angle mounting thru-hole configuration is also offered. Actuator options include the knurled, slotted spindle, segment wheel with position number shown, and cross shaped screwdriver slot.

These ultra-compact models, with a body size of .394" square x .236" high, are completely sealed for wave or reflow soldering and solvent or aqueous cleaning. Terminations include a common and 1, 2, 4 and 8 marked outputs for easy identification. All models feature a precision designed detent action that is compatible with either clockwise or counterclockwise rotation.

Rating for these models is 24 VDC at 150 mA max. with a life expectancy of 10,000 switching operations. Initial contact resistance is less than 100 milliohms. They are designed for operation in a temperature range from -20°C to 85°C.

Pricing for a typical unit, model no. P60A701 is $1.65 each in 1000 piece quantities.

OEM's will solve their coding and sequencing switching needs by specifying these compact P60A models.
