12mm Dust-Proof Rotary Position Sensor Provides 1-Million Rotational Cycles for Space-Constrained Applications
RIVERSIDE, Calif., September 9, 2008 - Bourns, Inc., a leading manufacturer and supplier of electronic components, today announced the availability of a new 12 millimeter (mm) rotary position sensor. The small and highly reliable new dust-proof rotary sensor, designated Model 3382, provides long product life with its 1 million rotational cycles and IP40 seal rating. The Bourns Model 3382 is the latest addition to the company's Trimpot product line and is designed for a wide range of space-constrained applications requiring high quality and reliability such as navigation systems, automotive power seats and mirrors, portable electronic equipment, digital cameras, industrial equipment and controls, robotic systems and home applications including mechanical compartment systems, appliances, in-wall temperature control systems and more.

Bourns' Model 3382 rotary position sensor has a shaftless, surface-mount design that features exceptional performance characteristics including a broad operating temperature range (-40ºC to +120ºC), and great independent linearity (+2%) for its compact size. This device is well suited for applications that require frequent adjustment where it is necessary to control a variable output such as frequency, speed, contrast, brightness intensity, or volume control. The design is also a good solution for applications where a mechanical angular displacement is measured by the device's proportional ouput signal.

Bourns' Model 3382 12mm dust-proof rotary position sensor is available now in production quantities. As a pricing reference, the Model 3382 is offered in the price range of $1.10 to $1.20 for 1,000 piece quantities through distribution.
