New Dual Rotary Knife Module Offers Retrofit Flexibility
(Neenah, Wis.) - Webex has introduced the DirEXCut(TM) dual rotary knife module designed for use in folio sheeting operations. The new knife module features unique, dead-shafted knife cylinders mounted in a cartridge configuration that can be retrofitted into an existing fixed bed sheeter.
Each knife cylinder uses a helically-wrapped, CPM blade to create a clean, scissored-type cutting action across the web. Long-lasting CPM blades can be resharpened while still mounted on the cylinders. The infeed side features an adjustable nip section consisting of a 16" diameter driven, chromed lower roll and a hypalon, chevron-grooved upper roll that aids in de-wrinkling. Nip pressures can be adjusted across the full width of the roll or offset on the left or right side to prevent wrinkling or to compensate for material with caliber variances.
A swivel operator console with touch screen control panel stores over 50 run specifications, simplifying re-runs of past orders. On-screen information includes machine diagnostics and run history as well as real-time information, such as sheet length, linear run, width of the order, actual speed, and maximum potential speed.
The entire module uses all off-the-shelf hardware to simplify maintenance and component/part replacement. All ladder-logic and machine drawings are also provided.
