Rotary Knife Cutter offers cuts in tightly controlled size ranges.

Press Release Summary:

Equipped with rotor assembly with five full-length knives which cut materials against stationary bed knives, Rotary Knife Cutter is designed with perforated screen with apertures from 1.2 to 50.8 mm. Suitable for cutting grains, spices, roots and chips, unit’s rotor assembly rides on flange-block bearings and is powered by V-belt drive assembly. Designed with hinged doors for easy cleaning and inspections, cutter’s two screens offer 270° of exposure.

Original Press Release:

Rotary Knife Cutter Reduces Grains, Spices, Roots into Controlled Sizes with Minimum Fines

A new stainless steel Rotary Knife Cutter Model #4-SS from Munson Machinery cuts corn, spices, roots, grains and other foods into controlled sizes gently, sharply and accurately, with little or no fines or dust. The unit features a rotor assembly with five full-length knives that cut material against four stationary bed knives until particles become small enough to pass through apertures in two large, semi-cylindrical screens.

Compared with other types of mills, the Munson Rotary Knife Cutter offers greater shear with less impact, yielding end product with clean cuts in tightly controlled size ranges.

The cutting knives, which are milled of hardened tool steel and can be re-sharpened, impart centrifugal force that positions particles between cutting edges of the rotating knives and reversible bed knives.

An extensive selection of screen sizes allows tight control over end-product sizes, making it ideal to cut or crack grains, spices, roots, chips and similar products.

Material is gravity fed through the infeed hopper at the top of the cutter, into the star-shaped rotor assembly. On-size particles pass through a perforated screen having apertures from 3/64 to 2.0 inches (1.2 to 50.8 mm) and discharge through a flanged outlet by gravity or pneumatically.

The two screens provide 270° of exposure achieving high throughput rates, and are retained within dual, hinged housings with machined channels that allow easy access and rapid screen changes.

The rotor assembly rides on sealed flange-block bearings mounted on a heavy-gauge fabricated and machined housing, and is powered by a fully guarded V-belt drive assembly, providing vibration-free operation.

Optional feed hoppers are available with baffles and a slide gate to control flow for conveyor feeding.

The cutter offers hinged doors on both sides for rapid cleaning and inspection, and is available in carbon steel or all-stainless construction.

Other size reduction equipment produced by the company includes: Screen Classifying Cutters, Centrifugal Impact Mills, De-Clumpers, Attrition Mills, Hammer Mills and Shredders. Blending equipment offered includes: Rotary Batch Mixers, Ribbon, Paddle and Plow Blenders, Cylindrical Plow Blenders, Continuous Rotary Blenders, Variable Intensity Blenders and Fluidized Bed Mixers.
