Rotary Encoders suit board and panel applications.

Press Release Summary:

Housed in 11, 12, and 16 mm packages, EN Series Rotary Mechanical Encoders feature detents and push-on switch options. Two-bit, gray code, incremental units convert motion into sequence of digital pulses, allowing them to be used as digital potentiometers. Encoders are RoHS-compliant and dust-proof with rotational life of 30,000 cycles and operating temperature of -30 to +85°C. Applications include car audio, air-conditioning, and navigation systems.

BI Technologies Develops Rotary Mechanical Encoders for Board And Panel Applications

FULLERTON, CA (February 16, 2007) - Providing design engineers with a digital version of a potentiometer for controlling a variety of board and panel applications, TT electronics BI Technologies Electronic Components Division has developed a comprehensive line of rotary mechanical encoders. Designated the EN Series, the two-bit gray code incremental encoders are housed in 11mm, 12mm and 16mm packages, and feature detents and push-on switch options.

"The RoHS-compliant EN Series encoders convert motion into a sequence of digital pulses, allowing them to be used as a digital version of a potentiometer," said Richard Hsieh, director of new product development for BI Technologies Electronic Components Division. "This makes the rotary encoders ideal for a variety of applications, including car audio, air-conditioning, and navigation systems, as well as DVD players."

Additional board and panel applications for the encoders include digital monitors, audio mixers and sound systems, home theater receivers, portable players, multi-meters, copiers, timers, scanners, washing machines, dryers, and microwave ovens.
The EN Series product line includes:
o EN11: 11mm, 20 pulse per revolution, top and side adjust encoder with metal shaft and bushing, threaded and plain bushing, and optional push-on switch and detents;
o EN12: 12mm, 12 and 24 pulse per revolution, top and side adjust encoder with metal bushing, plastic shaft, and optional push-on switch and detents;
o EN16: 16mm, 12 and 24 pulse per revolution, top and side adjust encoder with metal bushing, plastic shaft, and optional detents.

All of the EN Series encoders are dust-proof and feature a rotational life of 30,000 cycles with an operating temperature range of -30°C to +85°C. BI Technologies will produce devices outside these specifications to meet customer requirements.

Pricing for the rotary mechanical encoders ranges from $0.40 to $0.60 depending on quantity. Lead times are from stock to 4 weeks.
