Romaco at Emballage 2014 in Paris Child Resistant Carton Box Concept

The highlight of this year's Emballage exhibit will be a demonstration of Locked4Kids, the child resistant carton box which is manufactured using the Romaco Promatic P 91S intermittent motion cartoner. This patented packaging concept already won the Dutch "Zilveren Noot" award and the CPhI Pharma Award for Innovation in Packaging. Romaco will also show its final packaging and tableting solutions for the pharmaceutical industry.

Romaco Promatic P 91S intermittent motion cartoner

Visitors to this year's Emballage exhibition will be treated to a demonstration of how the Romaco Promatic P 91S intermittent motion cartoner is used to process and pack Locked4Kids. This child resistant, reclosable carton box concept developed by Dutch manufacturer Ecobliss Holding B.V. already won the "Zilveren Noot" packaging award and the CPhI Pharma Award for Innovation in Packaging. Locked4Kids was officially launched in the market in October 2014 with a P 91S from Romaco Promatic.

The P 91S series is the high-speed version of the Romaco Promatic intermittent motion cartoner. With a maximum packaging speed of 140 folding cartons a minute, this cartoner is capable of handling an extremely wide range of products. Its compact, modular design and cGMP compliant balcony structure make it ideal for packing pharmaceuticals. Reproducible, toolless format changes can be completed in under fifteen minutes, so that downtime is reduced to a minimum. The positive carton opening system, featuring a servo-controlled carton pick-up to protect the materials, is just one of the technical highlights. The vacuum which is necessary to open the cartons and fold the leaflets is produced by low-noise Venturi nozzles. Bespoke feed systems and numerous additional functions enhance the flexibility of the Romaco Promatic P 91S and extend its performance range.

Romaco Promatic SM 2000 stretch bander

The SM 2000 stretch bander from Romaco Promatic can be supplied with a mechanical, pneumatic or servo drive. Depending on the model, it achieves a maximum output of 50 bundled cartons per minute. The Romaco Promatic SM 2000 is also available with an optional shrink wrapper. The ergonomic design and balcony structure meet the high cGMP requirements of the pharmaceutical industry. Format sets with only three parts and an automatic quick-release system for film changes speed up retooling and cleaning. Toolless adjustment to the required format is possible in less than five minutes. Dynamic stacking units and a motorised film handling system at the top and bottom permit appreciably higher production speeds. The folding cartons can be fed into the machine either in-line or at an angle of ninety degrees and stacked either lying down or standing up on edge.

STYL'ONE Evolution single-stroke tablet press

From the basic galenics package to complex scale-up applications – Romaco Kilian's STYL'ONE Evolution single-stroke tablet press is predestined for formulating mono-layer, multilayer or core tablets in a broad array of RD applications. This RD machine compresses test batches of up to 1200 tablets an hour absolutely reliably. The production process on any standard rotary press can be simulated precisely using the integrated ANALIS software. ANALIS automatically develops the most suitable process for pressing tablets with the required height, hardness and density based on user defined product parameters. As a tableting robot, STYL'ONE Evolution can also be utilised in a targeted way to optimise production processes or troubleshoot errors. Only a tiny quantity of powder is needed for an ultra-precise test batch, leading to a substantial reduction in costs. ANALIS is a PAT system: STYL'ONE integrates highly efficient process analytical technology which facilitates a continuous improvement in product quality. The time and expense which are normally unavoidable for development activities or to optimise products and processes are restricted to a minimum – a great advantage for users.

KTP 420X high speed tablet press with CWC system

Romaco Kilian is the first manufacturer worldwide to offer a solution for continuous weight control: the KTP 420X – a versatile, high speed tablet press – in combination with the new, integrated CWC system. During the production process the patented CWC in-line scale continuously measures the weight of the tablets being produced. Good products are fed to the tablet discharge rather than being automatically removed, resulting in significantly less product waste. The innovative KTP 420X is perfect for the production of mono-layer, bi-layer or core tablets (tab-in-tab) and compresses up to 360,000 tablets an hour utterly reliably. Extremely durable compression rollers and wear-free lower punch brakes with patented magnets underlie the very low total cost of ownership (TCO). The likewise patented punch bellows protect the tablets from lubricants. Moreover, due to the hermetic separation of the compaction area and the machine compartment, the drives are not contaminated with product and no grease gets into the compaction area. The Romaco Kilian KTP 420X high speed tablet press is winner of the iF Award 2014 for innovative design.

On show at Emballage in Paris/France from November 17 to 20, 2014 (Hall 5a, Stand H 002).
