Rolls-Royce Gas Turbines Successfully Enter Service at New EDF Luminus Plant in Belgium

Rolls-Royce, the global power systems company, announced today that two of the Group's Trent 60 gas turbines have successfully entered service at the new EDF Luminus power plant located at Angleur in the city of Liège, Belgium.

The Trent 60 gas turbines, each capable of producing 64 megawatts (MW) of power, can achieve fast start-up in just nine minutes, helping EDF Luminus deliver continuity of electricity supply to households and businesses in Liège during peak demand periods.

Grégoire Dallemagne, CEO of EDF Luminus said: "We selected Rolls-Royce power generation technology due to its proven high-power, fast start-up capabilities. In addition, the Rolls-Royce gas turbines deliver significant emissions performance benefits, helping EDF Luminus to ensure that Liège has stable access to cleaner and more efficient electricity supply."

Tom Sacco, Rolls-Royce, Executive Vice President, Power Generation - Energy, said: "We are delighted to meet EDF Luminus' power generation requirements with two Trent 60 gas turbines that will help deliver a stable and efficient electricity supply to their customers all over in Belgium and especially to the local community in Liège, Belgium."

The Rolls-Royce Trent 60 units can operate on either liquid or gas fuel and each feature wet low emissions (WLE) and advanced inlet spray inter-cooling (ISI) technologies to reduce emissions and ensure that maximum power output is maintained over a wide range of temperatures.

The Angleur power plant was officially inaugurated by Melchior Wathelet, Belgium's Secretary of State for Environment, Energy, Mobility and Institutional Reform.
