Rockwell Automation Introduces Online Reporting and Analytics Tool


Addition of Web-based tool to service contracts enables customers to quickly apply corrective action on reported machinery problems and conduct cost-benefit analysis for condition-based maintenance program

MILWAUKEE, Aug. 14, 2006 - Responding to increased customer requirements to effectively analyze data gathered through maintenance activities and more accurately identify machinery problems, Rockwell Automation has enhanced its condition monitoring services offering with the addition of a new online reporting and analytics tool.

As part of a service contract, the Web-based tool - developed from feedback and collaboration with existing service and support customers - is designed to identify corrective action based on data gathered through condition monitoring and other predictive maintenance activities performed at a facility. The online tool also features functionality to help manufacturers determine the approximate return on investment (ROI) for activities, as well as track actual ROI over the course of their condition-based maintenance (CbM) program.

Currently available with a Rockwell Automation condition monitoring service contract, the Web-based reporting tool is available to existing and new customers.

Using data gathered through the plant's existing CbM program, the online tool analyzes the information and reports the cost-savings benefits of proactive maintenance measures. If any faults or issues are identified, the tool also provides recommended corrective actions based on equipment failure rates and potential downtime scenarios.

"The reporting capability provides quantifiable data, research and recommendations that demonstrate the value and cost savings that condition monitoring techniques can provide to extend the lifecycle of equipment and avoid unnecessary downtime," said Laszkiewicz. "By giving our customers the ability to sort data specific to their needs, they have better information from which to weigh the options and outcomes against estimated costs before undertaking a course of action."

Unlike the traditional monthly report documents, which are based on set reporting parameters and not integrated between predictive technologies, the online tool empowers manufacturers with the ability to view all reported data, such as vibration, infrared thermography and oil analysis. Once data is gathered, the tool accommodates customized reporting methodologies based on select data variables and equipment specifications, such as equipment type, age, problem severity and current maintenance status. Data and reports can be viewed at any level of an organization - from the plant floor to the front office - for better-informed decision-making.

Additionally, the cost benefits and ROI data can be automatically calculated across a plant's CbM program, enabling customers to see the full impact of predictive maintenance activities on their overall maintenance strategy. And because the tool integrates with existing maintenance management systems, manufacturers also have the ability to automatically issue work orders and requisition replacement parts.
