Original Press Release:

New Adaptive Robotic Liquid Pipettor from Hudson Control Group

(Springfield, NJ)- Hudson Control Group recently announced they have added new features to their highly productive Hudson SOLO(TM) High Resolution Liquid Dispenser. The new SOLO(TM) has the added capability of supporting a grouping of multiple syringes (up to 10) with varying bore sizes to support very tiny (<1 uL) to very large (>10 mL) aspirating and dispensing volumes, all on the same unit. With the smallest footprint of any comparable liquid-handling robot, the low cost SOLO is able to perform DNA transformations, cherry picking, serial dilutions and plate replications.. In addition, the new SOLO(TM) has an optional peristaltic pump for highspeed tip washing, which saves cycle time vs. traditional washing with a syringepump when using the optional fixed tip.

A compact 14" x 16" (355mm x 400mm) footprint easily fits on lab benchtops and into standard fume hoods and bio-safety cabinets. Compatible with 24-, 96-, 384-, and 1536-well plate formats, it also has the ability for non-contact dispensing into microplates and slides. This product also has a very broad dynamic range and the ability to handle reactions in a sterile environment.

The SOLO(TM) can be loaded and operated manually, but is also fully compatible with robot loading systems from most manufacturers, including Hudson Control's own PlateCrane EX®. It can also be used in-line with the Hudson Control LabLinx® high throughput track system for unparalleled high-throughput and ease of setup.

The SOLO(TM) is supported by Hudson Control Group's SoftLinx(TM) software, which facilitates the robotic pipettor's integration with most robots and other automated instruments. If SoftLinx(TM) doesn't already include an interface to a specific lab instrument; the Hudson Control team will develop one. SoftLinx(TM) will communicate with each instrument via a serial port from the computer, and comes with its own easy-to-use GUI. SoftLinx(TM) features an icon-based, drag-and-drop method editor, which will oversee the process of moving labware among instruments.
