Roboflex Buffer Module Introduction Planned for IMTS

Wixom, Michigan - August, 2002

Durr Automation, a division of the Durr Ecoclean Group of companies specializing in the cleaning of powertrain components and filtration of cutting fluids, will be introducing their "RoboFlex Buffer Module" to attendees at the IMTS show in Chicago, Illinois on September 4 through 11.

Gudel (booth #B-6251) will be hosting Durr Automation product experts, who will be on hand to explain and answer questions about the technology.

The Roboflex Buffer Module integrates the flexibility of a (5) axis inverted robot mounted onto a gantry beam. The buffer module demonstrates Durr Automation's capability to buffer various components in many types of dunnage trays, racks or totes. The robot tooling is designed to handle the products, as well as the dunnage, for stacking, de-stacking, pack-in and pack-out modules and various buffering applications. Payloads up to 400 kg with linear travel up to 2-3 meters/second are available.

The RoboFlex unit can be integrated with vision to identify part locations, part configurations, and part characteristics. With the optional automatic tool change and multiple programs, the RoboFlex Buffer module can easily be relocated to handle various types of parts and dunnage. An industry standard robot controller offers a user friendly, compact and expandable control
method.

"The feedback we receive from show attendees allows us to identify and concentrate on new trends in technology and respond to changes in the industry - either through continued R&D, or though partnerships with suppliers of complementary equipment" said Roger Brodeur, Account Manager. "This industry-specific event gives attendees the opportunity to discuss their highly
specialized needs face-to-face with suppliers all in one location."

Together with Gudel, Durr hopes to attract attendees associated with machining companies who require flexibility and modularity.

Durr Automation is a member of the Durr Ecoclean Group of companies - the world's largest supplier of automation systems, cleaning technology and filtration equipment/technologies to the powertrain industry. The Durr Ecoclean Group of companies operate under the umbrella of the strategic management holding company, Durr AG headquartered in Stuttgart, Germany.
