Rivets deliver consistent, stable clamp force.

Press Release Summary:

Suited for automotive, electronic assembly, and transportation industries, High Retention rivets employ rib design that counters deformation and stress fracture pressures. They are available with steel and stainless steel bodies and mandrels as well as domed, large-flange, and 120° countersunk head configurations. Offered in 1/8, 5/32, 3/16, and ¼ in. dia sizes, rattle-resistant rivets exhibit shear strengths from 213-1,056 lb and tensile strengths from 269-1,174 lb.

High-Retention Rivets Provide Stability, Resist Rattles

Rib Design Counters Deformation and Stress Fracture Pressures

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (August 2, 2005) - Extending the range of innovative solutions provided by POP® rivet systems, Emhart Teknologies today announces a new line of High Retention (HR) rivets targeted specifically at the automotive, electronic assembly, and transportation sectors. Available in a range of steel and stainless steel bodies and mandrels and with domed, large flange, and 120° countersunk head configurations, HR rivets are offered in 1/8-, 5/32-, 3/16-, and 1/4-inch diameters.

"This new product will assure users of reliable clamping of sheets, be they metal-to-metal or plastic-to-metal, as well as freedom from stress fractures and material deformation," said Mark C. Baker, Manager, Applications Engineering Group. "A unique rib design accommodates larger primary holes in plastic and thin sheet metal, and is central to avoiding deformation or fracture," he added.

Additional HR Rivet performance benefits include:

· Excellent mandrel retention

· Excellent rattle resistance

· Consistent and stable clamp force

· Increased secondary side expansion (footprint)

· Compliance with QS9001 and RoHS 2006 standards

Users concerned with reliability and stability will well note the HR Rivet has a footprint up to 25 percent greater than that of a standard rivet, that shear strength ratings are from 213 to 1,056 pounds, depending on diameter and body type, and tensile strengths are from 269 to 1,174 pounds. Field applications show that HR Rivet bodies hold mandrels in place for no vibration or rattling, are appropriate for fastening composites, deliver material and installed cost savings, and resist corrosion in stainless steel applications.

HR Rivets are available in five basic configurations:

· Steel Body/Steel Mandrel with a domed head and a zinc/protective coating finish

· Steel Body/Steel Mandrel with a large flange and a zinc/protective coating finish

· Steel Body/Steel Mandrel with a 120° countersunk head and a zinc/protective coating finish

· Stainless Steel Body/Stainless Steel Mandrel with a domed head and a plain finish

· Stainless Steel Body/Stainless Steel Mandrel with a 120° countersunk head and a plain finish

POP® HR Rivets are compatible with Emhart Teknologies ProSet(TM) 2101 444, 510A 44 4, 5250A 4 44, ProSet(TM) 2100 44 444, 540 4 44 444, and 5400/5400LS fastening systems. They also can be fed through POPmatic® Point & Set and Modular Riveting Systems.
