LogicaCMG Launches Ringback Tones ASP Service for Operators

CANNES, France - 3GSM World Congress, February 15 -- LogicaCMG today announced at the 3GSM World Congress in Cannes, France, that it has launched a Ringback Tone ASP (Application Service Provisioning) solution in conjunction with NMS Communications (NASDAQ: NMSS). Operators deploying the Ringback Tone solution are able to offer their subscribers a choice of hearing commercial music, a personal message or other audio clips rather than a standard ringback tone until the call is answered. This service improves the subscriber's experience whilst at the same time creating a revenue generating opportunity for operators. According to Ovum, revenues from ringback tones in Western Europe alone will be worth as much as US$721 million by 2008.

Before launching the ASP service today, LogicaCMG has had already successfully implemented Ringback Tones in several countries in the last six months. By offering ringback tones through an ASP model, LogicaCMG is helping operators to reduce not only the overall costs of implementing the service, but also its time to market with a installation time of just eight weeks. The standard LogicaCMG Ringback Tone platform offers operators a number of options including content services, network services as well as installation and integration services. In addition, offering the service as an ASP model means the service is operated through LogicaCMG's own data centres and is backed by agreed service level agreements. Therefore the financial risks for service providers is minimised, time to market is reduced, and the service can quickly scale to meet the rapidly increasing demand that typically follows deployment of this type of service.

Chris McDermott, chief executive officer for LogicaCMG global telecoms, said: "Our expertise in providing 300 of the world's mobile operators with messaging and billing solutions in over 130 countries, has given us an unparalleled insight into the revenue opportunities that operators want to take advantage of. The launch of our Ringback Tone ASP service is yet another example of how we are enabling operators to assure innovation in Next Generation telecoms."

LogicaCMG and NMS Communications have partnered to provide an end-to-end proposition for the introduction of Ringback Tone services. This is based on NMS Communications' well-known MyCaller(TM) solution, deployed by operators around the world, and LogicaCMG's global delivery, systems integration and support capabilities. The joint proposition allows operators to rapidly deploy the service with rich functionality, whilst at the same time minimising implementation risks and costs.

Ringback tones enable callers to the subscriber to hear personal ringback profiles previously chosen expressly for them and set by the subscriber. The service allows subscribers to set their choices of ringback depending on who is calling, and when. Ringback preferences may be set or changed easily via WAP, Web, SMS and IVR (Interactive Voice Response). Unlike the popular ring tones, which reside in the handset and depend on having models with specific features, the ringback tone service resides on the telecom provider's network. Every mobile subscriber, regardless of handset, can use the ringback tones service and all of their callers whether they're calling from a fixed-line or mobile phone, will hear the ringback setting that the subscriber has selected.
