Thomas & Betts' Sta-Kon® Ring Terminals with Expanded-Entry Vinyl Insulators Enable Quicker Insertion of Heavy-Gauge Wires
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Dec. 14, 2005 - Thomas & Betts has reduced installation time for the insertion of heavy-gauge wire into straight-entry terminal insulators by expanding its Sta-Kon® line with the introduction of Ring Terminals with Expanded-Entry Vinyl Insulators. The terminals feature a larger opening that enables a quick and easy insertion of insulated 8 and 6 AWG wires.
The Sta-Kon Ring Terminals with Expanded-Entry Vinyl Insulators grip wires securely for a reliable termination onto terminal blocks and auxiliary equipment, as well as connection to ground wires. The expanded-entry insulator reduces hang-up during wire insertion, in addition to substantially reducing the labor time to install wire terminals.
"If a panel builder, for example, is grounding a panel to an enclosure with a 6 AWG wire, it will take much less time to train the wire and insulation into this terminal than it would with conventional ring terminals," Dan Vega, product manager for Thomas & Betts' Industrial Products Group said. "The installer can increase productivity by not having to spend as much time on terminating heavy-gauge wire."
The Sta-Kon Ring Terminals with Expanded-Entry Vinyl Insulators are UL® listed and CSA approved, and are UL94VO rated for flammability. Stud sizes range from No. 8 to 1/2 inch for 8 AWG terminals and from number 10 to 1/2 inch for 6 AWG terminals. The terminals are tin-plated copper with vinyl insulators, a temperature rating of 105°C and an electrical rating of 600 volts.
Sta-Kon® Ring Terminals with Expanded-Entry Vinyl Insulators are compatible with the Sta-Kon ERG2007 Comfort Crimp® hand tool and the TBM6 ratchet tool.
