Ricoh Showcases Rights-Managed Document Scanning Solution with Adobe at RSA Conference 2007

SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 5 /- Ricoh Corporation, the leading provider of digital office equipment announced today that it will showcase an integrated, secure document scanning solution at the RSA® Conference 2007 (Booth #1037) with Adobe Systems Incorporated in the Moscone Center, San Francisco, CA. Thwarting unauthorized access to confidential documents processed through Ricoh Aficio® multifunction products (MFPs), the solution combines Ricoh ScanRouter(TM) EX Professional software with Adobe® LiveCycle® Policy Server software to deliver a secured paper-to-digital document solution.

"Adobe and Ricoh are able to provide a comprehensive, secure document routing system that puts the authorized user in control," said Jeff Whatcott, vice president of product marketing, Enterprise and Developer Business Unit at Adobe. "Security has consistently been highlighted as one of Information Technology's most important priorities. Businesses can now put their minds at ease when confidential documents are shared across the enterprise, as well as with external third parties."

Building upon its global alliance announced in May 2006, Ricoh and Adobe are offering users the ability to manage risk at the point-of-capture. Paper documents are scanned at the Ricoh MFP where the security policy is applied. To ensure the information remains safe, the security policy remains with the document through its lifetime, whether it is transferred inside or outside the corporate firewall. These secure documents are then delivered to internal user and third-party email inboxes, folders or FTP locations via Ricoh's ScanRouter EX Professional.

Further benefits of the Ricoh-Adobe integrated solution are gained from the availability of the Adobe PDF Scan Library, which operates in conjunction with the LiveCycle Policy Server. Paired with Ricoh's ScanRouter EX Professional solution, the Adobe PDF Scan Library enables Ricoh's ScanRouter to generate searchable, more secure and compact PDF files from scanned paper documents. In essence, this integration of Adobe technologies with Ricoh solutions will allow users to create and manage intelligent documents with enterprise applications and various business processes.

"Today's Chief Information Officers (CIOs) are tasked with protecting data and ensuring enterprise rights management (ERM) best practices," said Hede Nonaka, senior vice president, Document Solutions & Services Division (DSS), Ricoh Corporation. "Together, Ricoh and Adobe are helping CIOs better protect information and support the compliance of regulated content."
