RGB Networks Leads with Cloud Solutions at Cable-Tec Expo 2014

End-to-end, cloud-based video solution 'CloudXtream' setting new levels in the delivery and monetization of TV Everywhere services

RGB Networks, the leading provider of the industry's most scalable and unified solutions for multiscreen video delivery, will showcase its 'CloudXtream' solution portfolio in booth #1347 at SCTE's Cable-Tec Expo, taking place September 22-25 in Denver, Colorado. CloudXtream is an orchestrated cloud solution based on the industry standard open source operating system OpenStack, to facilitate and accelerate the deployment of essential monetization services such as Ad Insertion for Multiscreen (AIM) and network DVR (nDVR).

The sheer number of connected consumer devices readily available on the market today has transformed the way in which we discover and consume TV content. With a recent study by Digital TV Research anticipating that OTT will reach half world's homes by 2020, scalability of infrastructure is fast emerging as the pivot point for all Multichannel Video Programming Distributors (MVPDs) looking to keep pace with demand. As a software-based solution, with ability to automatically respond to elastic demand for transcoding or 'cloud bursting' scenarios – while still supporting the delivery of live, time-shifted or on-demand programming to a multitude of screens, regardless of protocol in use – RGB CloudXtream represents a new dimension in TV Everywhere.

"As the global Pay-TV market continues to consolidate, CloudXtream addresses two fundamental customer needs: the ability to monetize and personalize the TV viewing experience. It does this through its applications for targeted ad insertion and nDVR," said Andy Salo, VP of product management at RGB Networks. "Furthermore, with built-in load balancing and geo-redundancy, OpenStack's versatile model means that hundreds of application instances can be rolled out in a matter of minutes – without triggering any unanticipated or unnecessary costs."

"I'm looking forward to meeting with operators of all shapes and sizes at this year's show to share our expertise and discuss how our solutions ensure they continue to fulfill their ambitions of reaching more subscribers than ever before, but do so in a cost-effective, savvy and sustainable way," Salo continued.

With the ability to integrate and deploy turnkey video applications out-of-the-box, on to bare metal servers or private and public clouds, CloudXtream offers MVPDs unparalleled deployment flexibility. Its framework easily enables the integration and deployment of other third-party applications directly into the OpenStack cloud environment – DRM, subscriber management, ad servers and other third-party products.

Executives from RGB Networks will be available throughout Cable-Tec Expo on booth #1347 to answer questions and show the unique advantages that RGB's multiscreen IP video delivery solutions can offer.
