Capital Safety Rolls Out i-Safe 2.0

New user-friendly software offers increased time savings

RED WING, Minn. - Oct. 21, 2008 - In 2006, Capital Safety's i-Safe Intelligent Safety System became the first radio frequency identification (RFID) system dedicated to fall protection equipment tracking. Now the best just got better. Capital Safety is proud to announce the launch of i-Safe 2.0, a significant upgrade that makes managing a safety program even easier and more cost effective. i-Safe 2.0, engineered in response to customer feedback, boasts many new features and improved functions, making it the most advanced RFID system on the market for safety equipment tracking.

The wireless data collection i-Safe system consists of a web portal for easy information management and a mobile device for on-site inspections. The system allows users to easily record and access information on inspections, inventory and use information, track equipment assignments by worker or location, view or download safety and equipment instructions, and access links to safety standards. Key benefits include:

o Web-based - information is stored and updated to a database with easy access anytime

o Data accuracy - real-time data provides accurate reports and up-to-date information

o Custom setup - data entry can be customized to fit any application

o Mobile inspections - mobile reader allows for in the field inspections and information management on the job site

o Saves time - reduces time by over 35 percent compared to paper-based systems, ultimately lowering costs

Almost all DBI-SALA fall protection products are RFID-enabled and ready to be added to an i-Safe database. Retrofit tags are also available to outfit existing inventory from any manufacturer, as well as other equipment, such as ladders, fire extinguishers, power tools and more. The mobile reader scans the tags to record inspections, make job assignments or manage inventory in the field. Data is then uploaded to the interactive web portal.

"We've made a multitude of improvements, from appearance to report writing, designed to save the safety director's valuable time," said John Fuke, global i-Safe manager, with Capital Safety. "Our goal is to become indispensable to any company tracking and inspecting safety equipment. With i-Safe 2.0, we've made a significant leap towards achieving that goal."

The web portal and mobile device now look more alike, and options on both are more intuitive. The portal features top-level navigation consisting of six tabs with drop-down menus. 'My i-Safe Dashboard' provides a daily snapshot of inspection history, inspections due and inventory status at a glance. Data import, export and reporting options have improved, allowing the user to produce files in multiple formats complete with filtering and sorting capabilities, making report building fast and efficient.

All of this adds up to significant time and cost savings, and the improved data accuracy, customized applications, and intuitive functions make operation of the i-Safe system even more user friendly than before.
