Unibar, Inc. Releases-Printer Independent Software Solution for Label Printing from Oracle(r) Warehouse Management and Oracle Mobile Supply Chain Applications

Certified software enables bar code and RFID smart label printing on printers from multiple manufacturers with no print server required

Rochester Hills, MI -- March 2, 2005 - Unibar Inc., the leading developer of bar code label design and printing software for Unix and Linux platforms, announced its BARCODE 2000 XML package has been validated for bar code printing from Oracle Warehouse Management System (WMS) and Oracle Mobile Supply Chain Applications (MSCA). Users can design bar code and radio frequency identification (RFID) smart labels with BARCODE 2000 XML and output them from Oracle WMS and Oracle MSCA applications on a variety of bar code printer models from leading manufacturers with no additional printer management software or hardware required.

Oracle Warehouse Management and Oracle Mobile Supply Chain Applications use eXtensible Markup Language (XML) as the interface to exchange data with other applications. BARCODE 2000 XML includes an XML interface Unibar and Oracle co-developed for integration with Oracle applications. BARCODE 2000 XML can also be used to create XML label files for use with other applications.

Unibar's BARCODE 2000 XML is the only bar code output solution that runs on a Unix or Linux server that has gone through the certification process for use with Oracle Warehouse Management. The software runs without a dedicated print server and can be installed on the same host where the Oracle applications reside to manage distributed printing throughout the enterprise. The software supports more than 200 models of bar code and RFID smart label printers. Label printers do not require XML processing capabilities to print label files created with BARCODE 2000 XML.

"We didn't realize how simple it could be to create and print bar code labels from Oracle Warehouse Management and Oracle Mobile Supply Chain Applications until we implemented Unibar's software," said Michael Heusmann, Oracle database administrator at DRS Technologies, one of the first customers of BARCODE 2000 XML. "The XML interface is extremely reliable makes the system easy to use. We especially appreciate not having to install or support any additional hardware and software to enable bar code label printing."

Unibar's BARCODE 2000 XML provides an easy-to-use tool to design the label format and layout, which is then married to the XML provided by Oracle Warehouse Management or Oracle Mobile Supply Chain Applications to produce a printed label. This whole process can be supported on any operating system, so that Windows, Linux and Unix shops can be supported. Because BARCODE 2000 XML resides on the same host that supports the Oracle environment, users enjoy a streamlined print system architecture with minimal support requirements.

"BARCODE 2000 XML delivers much-needed flexibility to the Oracle user community," said Unibar President Ted Kruse. "Enterprises can now install a single software package to enable and manage bar code and RFID smart label printing throughout their enterprise, on numerous legacy printers, without additional hardware or software. XML support is an excellent method of providing open systems interfaces. We are pleased to be an Oracle Partner, and to provide an additional label printing solution to Oracle Warehouse Management and Oracle Mobile Supply Chain Applications customers."
