New High-Performance realWORX(R) WEB System Evaluates the Readiness of Cable TV Infrastructure for DOCSIS 3.0

realWORX(TM) WEB facilitates the transition to DOCSIS 3.0 by providing comprehensive measurement and diagnostic information on cable RF Infrastructure.

SAN JOSE, Calif., Sept. 22 -- Sunrise Telecom Incorporated (Pink Sheets: SRTI), a leader in test and measurement solutions for telecom, wireless and cable networks, today unveiled the enhanced version of realWORX WEB, a 24/7 RF monitoring system for CATV and broadband communications services. realWORX WEB provides complete access to information on upstream ingress and downstream channel performance and alerts operators to impairments through any standard browser, including smartphones. Sunrise Telecom's "Anywhere, Anytime" access to network information gives service providers a new level of confidence in the reliability of their DOCSIS 2.0 and 3.0 systems without additional capital expenditures.

"With the growing deployments of DOCSIS 3.0, this comprehensive web-based RF monitoring product is essential for operators working to meet deployment Quality of Service (QoS) through isolating ingress issues and finding downstream RF impairments," said Olga Yashkova, analyst, Measurement & Instrumentation, Frost & Sullivan. "The interface can be accessed by an unlimited number of people in a live, real-view environment. Sunrise Telecom's realWORX WEB is an extremely user-friendly web-based solution with unique features; its clean interface facilitates quick and easy interpretation of data."

Industry experts are advising operators to continuously monitor the MER and BER performance of all DOCSIS channels in order to maintain a high quality of DOCSIS 3.0 service. On downstream channels, reviewing historical MER and BER measurements with realWORX WEB makes it easy to determine if channel degradation or errors have occurred. Historical measurement graphs help the user gauge signal quality over time, and in-depth views allow for very detailed system inspection.

In the return path, realWORX WEB monitors ingress and helps isolate problem nodes. By monitoring the entire optical return band from 0.5 MHz up to 200 MHz, special monitoring profiles can identify and alert users of hard-to-find impairments like laser clipping and common path distortion (CPD). Laser clipping leads to degradation of data transmission and CPD results in a data loss that can cause significantly slower communication rates. Finding and fixing these impairments can lead to the improved performance of return nodes.

"As cable television operators transition from traditional entertainment programming to delivering enhanced triple play services, Quality of Experience (QoE) becomes more important," said Bahaa Moukadam, chief executive officer at Sunrise Telecom. "Losing one subscriber results in the significant loss of three revenue streams. Managing service performance with realWORX WEB can help increase revenues and loyal customers."

realWORX WEB is the only monitoring system to use a precision spectrum analyzer at its core, with -65dBmV of sensitivity, making it possible to detect and capture extremely low level RF impairments, which are typically invisible to traditional monitoring systems.

realWORX WEB is immediately available. For more information, contact Sunrise Telecom at 800-701-5208, or visit the company's web site at http://www.sunrisetelecom.com/.
