Mercury Computer Systems Expands Capabilities for Signals Intelligence Applications with Advanced RF Modules

Echotek Series RF Family Enables Signal Detection Range that Exceeds Competitive Products by a factor of 2x to 10x

CHELMSFORD, Mass., Nov 15, 2005 -- Mercury Computer Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: MRCY) announced the expansion of its electronic capabilities for signals intelligence with the new Echotek Series RF family of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) radio frequency (RF) digital tuning modules.

The Echotek Series RF family leverages the highly optimized technology platform gained through the acquisition of Echotek Corporation in August 2005, and features highly accurate frequency measurement for precise sorting of different signals; low phase noise for enhanced performance in "coherent" applications such as direction finding and beam forming; and 10 usec tuning speed for tracking highly agile signals.

The modular design of the Echotek Series RF family allows easy integration with standards-based, real-time signal processing systems. This enables communications intelligence (COMINT) and electronics intelligence (ELINT) application developers such as prime contractors and national labs to develop receiver/analysis subsystems for technology insertion.

"The Echotek Series RF family delivers unique capability to customer applications that need to rapidly identify signals of interest or locate the origin of a specific signal," said Ralph Kimball, Chief Technologist for Mercury's Echotek Product Group. "For example, operatives trying to evade detection may communicate using very brief transmissions, or they may use rapid, unpredictable changes in frequency. Security forces need technology that reacts fast enough to disrupt these tactics."

Echotek Series RF products have highly accurate frequency measurement with exceptional spurious free dynamic range (SFDR). This characteristic delivers a signal detection range exceeding competitive products by a factor of 2x to 10x. It also permits less ambiguous signal discrimination and sorting.

The Echotek Series RF family offers industry-leading features in a choice of both the 6U VME (3000TE and 5000TE) and 6U CompactPCI (3000CTE and 3000CSE) form factors. The 6U VME solution is compatible with VME64, VME64x and Mercury's new RapidIO-based VXS (VITA 41) multicomputer. The 3000TE, 5000TE, 3000CTE and 3000CSE boards are currently shipping to customers and are available for delivery within standard lead times.
