VTI Releases New Scalable Microwave Switching Solutions



Irvine, CA - VTI Instruments Corporation is pleased to introduce two new RF/microwave switching solutions: the EX7105A and EX7204A. As part of VTI's EX7000 series, these high-density instruments have an open-platform COTS core that can be easily configured for a variety of custom applications.

The EX7000 family is an ideal microwave test system core that enables high-integrity signal switching between sources and measurement instruments (e.g. spectrum and network analyzers). This modular product line simplifies the development of custom RFIU requirements with its common hardware platform and software-based communications interface providing the foundation for a common, corporate-wide solution.

Modularity and re-usability are key characteristics of the EX7000 series, said Jon Semancik, VTI's Director of Marketing. Our open-platform design ensures that users have the flexibility to leverage these core sub-systems as requirements change throughout a project's life cycle.

The EX7204A offers maximum performance, flexible design options, and an operating range that extends to 26.5 GHz all in a compact footprint. Any combination of up to 16 latching building blocks can be housed in a single, 2U rack enclosure. The EX7105A is designed for size constrained RF switching applications providing exceptional signal integrity in a 1 U rack, half-width enclosure.

As an ideal solution for compact switching, both instruments provide an extensive list of available relay modules in SPDT, SP4T, and SP6T configurations, a front load design that's easy to configure/maintain, and an 8-bit TTL I/O bus that can be used to drive external circuitry. Ethernet-based LXI Class A compliance also ensures simplified connectivity and system wide-synchronization.
