Rexroth Introduces Hydraulic Power Brake with ABS for Mobile Equipment - Synergy Between Two Proven Technologies Increases Driving Safety

The Rexroth power brake with ABS ensures safe deceleration of mobile equipment even in difficult situations.

Having become almost universal in passenger cars, ABS is now making mobile equipment safer as well. Rexroth presents a further development of the hydraulic power brake, now including an ABS function, for vehicles with large masses and large-volume brakes. This patent-pending technology ensures greater driving safety in critical situations by maintaining the steering capability of the vehicle under braking, thereby increasing the drive stability. The first series production utilization of this technology is in tractors having greater than 200 hp.

The accident risk for mobile equipment such as construction and agricultural machinery, fork lifts or specialty vehicles rose in recent years due to their growing performance capability and the associated higher vehicle weights and drive speeds. Rexroth now combines the rugged, proven hydraulic power brake with the ABS module from Bosch, used in millions of brake systems and modified for this application. The new module can also be retrofitted into existing power brake systems.

Thanks to its modular design, users can freely arrange the brake system as required in the existing installation space. The Rexroth power brake features high hydraulic output power and optimal control. Accumulator filling valves ensure immediate availability after the motor start-up. In addition, single or dual circuit footbrake valves in standard or compact versions, handbrake and relay valves as well as accessories are available. Produced in large quantities, the ABS module stands out with its reliable electronics and software reliability. In contrast to passenger car and truck applications the entire brake system uses common hydraulic fluid.

The special design of the Rexroth power brake with ABS allows the system to be used in mobile equipment with large wheel load differences either loaded or unloaded, with large wheel moments of inertia, very large brake volumes or demanding chassis designs.
