Revolutionary New Freshlife® Packaging to Make Debut Appearance at Fruit Logisitica 2015

Addressing the issues of shelf-life enhancement, waste reduction and improved freshness, global packaging group, Coveris, unveils its exclusive range of Freshlife® packaging solutions at Berlin's Fruit Logistica event, 4th to 6th February.

With produce waste recognised as the number one contributor to the 7 million tonnes of food waste thrown away in the UK every year, it's clear that packaging has a major role to play in reducing this figure, protecting products, profitability and most of all, the environment.

Representing a technological breakthrough in fresh produce packaging, Coveris are set to reveal their exclusive range of Freshlife® solutions at this year's Fruit Logistica show in Berlin. Bringing together over 62,000 of the world's leading produce representatives, the trade show is set to become the global capital of the fresh produce industry for the 23rd year running at the capital's illustrious Messe centre.

Significant investment in research has led the development of a range of innovative packaging solutions which manage both in-pack moisture and respiration rates for a range of produce categories including, soft fruit, berries, tomatoes, mushrooms and potatoes, Coveris' global produce team are set to unite on Berlin's stage to showcase this exclusive print, packaging and technical services offer.

Demonstrating their extensive range of specialist flexible and rigid packaging formats, the Freshlife® range includes dedicated moisture and respiration controlled formats such as their AP™ Atmosphere Packaging, precision engineered polymer solutions and their ever popular MMP™ (Modified Moisture Packaging) range of films which have been responsible for delivering major shelf-life benefits for leading UK retailers such as Tesco's, Sainsbury's and the Co-operative.

Extending their sustainable innovation beyond waste reduction and shelf-life enhancement, Coveris will also be featuring their high-performance green polyethylene (PE) films at this year's show. Made from natural sugarcane resources, the film combines a low carbon footprint with renewable sourcing to deliver a fully environmental solution for potatoes and other produce categories.

Supporting the unique shelf-life requirements of the global produce industry, Coveris is offering the opportunity to review delegates' packaging needs at their exclusive on-stand Produce Clinic™. Led by Coveris' dedicated food science and technical experts, the team will also be appearing at the Fruit Logistica Tech Stage on Thursday 5th February. Speaking on the topic of enhancing freshness and reducing waste through packaging intervention, attendees can hear all about the supporting technology and its applications from Coveris' Technical Director, Will Mercer and Food Science expert Eric Duncan.

Alongside Coveris' sales and technical representatives, the team is expected to be joined by Group CEO, Gary Masse, and other members of Coveris' senior management team.

Included in this, Mark Lapping, Coveris' UK President expressed his anticipation for the event saying "as one of the global produce industry's leading events, Fruit Logistica presents the ultimate opportunity for Coveris to showcase our world leading packaging offer and fly the flag for our winning brand, Freshlife®. With a heritage in fresh produce packaging in the UK, we offer an unrivalled level of expertise in this sector and myself and our team of global representatives look forward to engaging with a whole host of new and existing clients to demonstrate our advanced and innovative capabilities in print, technology, and service."

Coveris are located in the Messe hall 8.2, stand B13 between 9am and 18pm, 4th to 6th February 2015.
