Hypertherm RT60/RT80 Retrofit Torches Bring G3 Performance to Older Powermax and MAX Systems

Hanover, NH, USA - New RT60 and RT80 retrofit torches from Hypertherm, Inc. incorporate patented Coaxial-assist jet technology to deliver cut speeds up to 46% faster on selected Powermax and MAX plasma arc metal cutting systems. Performance similar to newer Powermax G3 systems can now be achieved on older Powermax600/800/900/1100 and MAX 42/43 plasma systems. The RT60/RT80 retrofit torches continue Hypertherm's commitment to improving the performance and productivity of existing plasma cutting systems through the application of new technology.

The RT60 replaces the original PAC121/123/125 torches for Powermax600/800/900 and MAX 42/43 plasma systems. It delivers cut speeds up to 32% (41 inches per minute versus 31 ipm on half-inch steel plate). Consumable life is as much as 173% longer (1004 strip cuts versus 363).

The RT80 replaces the original PAC135 torch for the Powermax1100 plasma system. It delivers cut speeds up to 46% faster (19 ipm versus 13 ipm on one-inch steel plate). Consumable life is up to 175% longer (333 strip cuts versus 122).

The RT60 and RT80 achieve dramatically longer consumable life through improved torch dynamics and incorporation of patented HyLife electrode technology. They also utilize blow-back contact start technology for consistent and superior cut quality.

Hypertherm reports excellent feedback from field sites using the new retrofit torches. A recent communication from customer Ledwell & Son Enterprises (Texarkana, TX) credits the engineering of the RT60 with a 25% increase in consumable life. "The new RT60 plasma torch has been an excellent development for us," said Bob Nclte, Fabricating Foreman at Ledwell. "We're using it almost exclusively in manual as well as mechanized cutting operations."

The RT60 retrofit torch is based on the Hypertherm T60 torch design while the RT80 is based on the T80. They are fully compatible with Hypertherm G3 system consumables. Both torches incorporate Hypertherm's "HyperTough" cable jacket -four times more burn resistant than competitive cables, and are backed by a 1-year torch and lead warranty.

Since 1968, Hypertherm has been the industry leader in plasma arc cutting equipment and service. Now, with its entry into the laser-plate cutting market, Hypertherm expands its technology leadership commitment.
