NHBB's Unique Retainer Improves Lubricant Retention and Bearing Life

composite metal-polymer retainers (patent pending) to its broad product offering.
NHBB's new composite metal-polymer retainer QuickSilver(TM) will help Design Engineers improve a bearing's performance and operational life in a wide variety of applications that require
maintenance-free operation and reliability in extreme environments. This is especially critical in applications where bearings are only marginally lubricated such as in the case of many medical, dental or other applications requiring autoclaving and/or operation at ultra high speeds.
Tackling the problem of extending the bearing's life with only marginal lubrication, lead NHBB Precision Division's R&D group, based in Chatsworth, California, to combine the solid film
lubricating properties of silver with the strength and durability of a polymer retainer.
"Our engineers have developed an innovative solution to a demanding application, which has been proven out in extensive testing," said Alan Paynter, Sales Manager for NHBB's Precision
Division. "This retainer's unique properties set it apart in the industry, making it a perfect choice for bearings that operate under harsh conditions."
The machined polyamide-imide retainer historically offered by NHBB has anti-friction properties, good thermal stability, low moisture absorption, and it's lightweight. To enhance these properties even more, the retainer is plated with layers of pure silver using a specially developed technique. This new, composite metal-polymer retainer combines the anti-bacterial, lubricant-retaining properties of a porous silver coating with the strength and durability of a polymer. This results in
increased bearing life and enhanced performance for challenging miniature and instrument bearing applications
