Responding to the Call: The John Deere M-Gator A1(TM)

CARY, NC (July 11, 2007) - When someone's in trouble, they rely on the police, firefighters, search and rescue teams and other first responders. Now, first responders can rely on the John Deere M-Gator A1(TM) Utility Vehicle to help them get their jobs done. This combat-proven vehicle delivers the strength, power and versatility emergency personnel need when responding to a crisis.

"John Deere has been proud to supply the U.S. Military with M-Gators for the past several years," said Cleo Franklin, strategic marketing manager, Governmental Sales, John Deere Worldwide Commercial & Consumer Equipment Division. "As the M-Gator has evolved to fulfill the ever-changing needs of soldiers, John Deere has developed a product that also serves the needs of emergency personnel and first responders to crises on the homefront."

Designed to overcome rugged landscapes, dangerous locations and physical obstacles, the M-Gator A1 keeps passengers and cargo safe while negotiating the toughest terrain. With a keyless ignition, the M-Gator A1 delivers the speed and power to travel quickly regardless of environment.

Featuring an 854cc Tier II Yanmar diesel engine, the A1 boasts more than 10 percent additional horsepower and 30 percent more torque than previous M-Gators. The vehicle can travel at speeds of up to 20 mph. The A1 also features a dual radiator cooling system with 30 percent more cooling capacity to handle the toughest of conditions.

Designed to meet the first responder's demands for towing, loading and search and rescue, the M-Gator A1 features eight additional tie-down points on the cargo box and tow rings on both the front and rear of the vehicle. A 12V outlet and a litter carrier are standard. Understanding that first responders can't help citizens if they don't remain safe themselves, John Deere offers the A1 with standard two-post foldable OPS and seat belts (SAE certified). Options also include a garrison light kit and sun canopy.
