Original Press Release:

Coleman® Touch-screen Residential Thermostat is Easy to Install and Compatible with Any Conventionally Wired Comfort System

MILWAUKEE  –  A new touch-screen residential thermostat from the Coleman® brand of Johnson Controls gives contractors a product that is easy to install and compatible with any conventionally wired heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) system.

Contractors are able to preconfigure settings before arriving at a residence and simplify setup thanks to short-range wireless connectivity or near field communication and a dedicated distributor app, available on Android-equipped devices. This feature also makes ongoing remote support possible. Installed systems will receive software updates automatically via over-the-air updates, when connected to Wi-Fi®.

Homeowners who download Coleman’s Thermostat 280 app for iOS and Android gain control of their systems via Wi-Fi, 3G or 4G—virtually anywhere with internet access—using smartphones, tablets or computers. If connectivity is lost or the temperature in the home exceeds pre-set limits, a push notification is sent to the homeowner’s mobile device.

An easy-to-read, program and service, patent-pending hexagon interface displays real-time notifications and alerts. The thermostat also provides a quick heat and quick cool feature for short-term, high-capacity heating or cooling to reach set points more quickly. Pre-set modes provide quick access to alternate settings, and a convenient proximity sensor, which detects motion from one to six feet away, allows homeowners to make changes quickly, without waiting for the thermostat to start up.

With the new thermostat, contractors are now equipped to sell a complete Coleman home comfort system.
