New Residential Sprinkler Provides Enhanced Protection for Flat and Sloped Ceiling Applications
Hastings, MI, USA - Viking Corporation, a global leader in fire protection and life safety systems, has introduced a new residential, 4.2 (57) K-factor, horizontal sidewall sprinkler. The new model VK484 further enhances Viking's leading Freedom® residential line with another sidewall sprinkler option offering low water flow and pressure characteristics for both flat and sloped ceiling applications.
The VK484 sprinkler is cULus listed for up to 16 x 20 ft (4.9 x 6.1 m) coverage areas and can be installed with the deflector up to 12 in (305 mm) below the ceiling. In sloped ceiling applications, the VK484 is listed for ceilings with up to a 4/12 in (18°) pitch, with the sprinkler installed to discharge across the slope. Additionally, for 16 x 20 ft room sizes, the new sprinkler provides a listed flow rate of 22 gpm (83 lpm) for flat ceilings, which is the lowest among competitive sidewall sprinklers for this area of coverage.
