Resettable Fuses protect communication equipment.

Press Release Summary:

MF-R055/90 and MF-R075/90 Polymeric Positive Temperature Coefficient resettable fuses aid cable telephony in HFC networks by protecting against power faults in power passing taps, Network Interface Units, and set top boxes. MF-R055/90 and MF-R075/90 hold currents of 550mA and 750mA, respectively, and protect against overcurrents caused by power cross faults on coaxial cables. Both are available as radial coated and uncoated devices.

Bourns Multifuse® Product Line Launches the 90V Family

New series provides overcurrent protection for cable telephony

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Feb. 13, 2002 -- Bourns, Inc., a leading manufacturer of electronic components and integrated solutions, today announced the introduction of a new Multifuse(R) family of radial leaded resettable fuses, rated at 90V. The new products include the MF-R055/90, MF-R055/90U, and MF-R075/90U.

The 90V family aids cable telephony in Hybrid Fiber Coax (HFC) networks by protecting against power faults in power passing taps, Network Interface Units (NIUs), and set top boxes. The MF-R055/90 and MF-R075/90's hold currents of 550mA and 750mA respectively are designed to protect against overcurrents caused by power cross faults on coaxial cables.

Bourns' Multifuse(R) Polymeric Positive Temperature Coefficient (PPTC) resettable fuses are made of a unique conductive polymer exhibiting a positive PTC effect, which responds to increases in current by changing from a low resistance state to a very high resistance state. The PTC devices are resettable, and after the fault condition is removed and power is cycled, it will return to its normal low resistance state, thus removing the need for replacement.

The 90V family is available in radial coated and uncoated devices, with kinked or straight leads. Packaging is available in bulk, ammo pack, and tape and reel.

Pricing and Availability
The MF-R055/90 and MF-R075/90 are now available, and samples are offered for evaluation. Pricing for bulk amounts (500 pieces) begins at $0.25 per piece for all part numbers. Pricing for tape and reel (1500 pieces) and ammo packs (1000 pieces) begin at $0.26 per piece for all part numbers.
