Remy-Powered Electric AMP GCE Introduced at North American International Auto Show

PENDLETON, Ind., - Remy, Inc.'s Electric Motor Division and AMP Electric Vehicles have announced that their latest collaboration, an all-electric AMP GCE, made its debut at the 2012 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, January 9 - 12.

This SUV combines two of Remy's road-tested HVH 250 electric motors with AMP's proprietary technology for SUVs and full-sized vehicles. The AMP GCE will provide a competitive entry point for companies to add "green" vehicles to their fleet, and an attractive consumer alternative in the retail market.

"We are proud to be partnered with AMP Electric Vehicles as their long term supplier of electric traction motors," said Remy's VP of Hybrid Sales Kent Jones. "Our electric motors and their technology are a perfect match in this growing industry. We look forward to a successful launch and many future collaborations."

"Beginning with a world-class vehicle, the Jeep Grand Cherokee, and adding AMP's electrification results in the AMP GCE which offers everything SUV customers expect: smooth powerful performance, zero emissions, up to a 100-mile range in the refined package of a proven, world class SUV," said AMP Founder and President Steve Burns. "Remy's proven, powerful electric motor completes the package and provides the durability and reliability we need to complement the rest of the vehicle."

Remy and AMP are both high-profile manufacturers in the global electric vehicle market. The addition of the GCE complements AMP's MLE which is based on Mercedes ML SUV. Remy's patented HVH electric motor platform has powered over 100,000 vehicles with over 2 billion kilometers of proven reliability. The HVH 250 is in SUVs, trucks and commercial vehicles all over the world.

Pricing, initial delivery dates and market distribution were announced at the Detroit Auto Show, and the AMP GCE will be available for test drives.
