Semaphore Introduces Compact SCADA System RTU Featuring Open Programming

NASHUA, NEW HAMPSHIRE - December 3, 2007 - Semaphore, a CSE Global company, has introduced its Kingfisher G30 compact remote terminal unit, which features open programming and many advanced features for SCADA system applications.

The G30 RTU also extends the full capabilities of Semaphore's Kingfisher PLUS+ product line to small SCADA system applications requiring up to 32 I/O points. Like Kingfisher PLUS+, the G30 RTU allows open programming in all five languages specified by IEC 61131-3 and supports IEC 61499, the distributed processing and interoperability extension to 61131-3. An extensive library of function blocks that include applications such as AGA flow calculations is further provided.

The Kingfisher G30 RTU introduces advanced capabilities, normally found only in much larger products, into a compact RTU that is cost effective for small installations. The G30 RTU has been specifically designed to meet the needs of customers with significantly increasing demands for processing power, data storage and communications capabilities.

The 32-bit, ARM9 main processor ensures there is horsepower to meet the needs of intensive applications. A memory system with 32 Mbytes of SDRAM and 16 Mbytes of Flash allows for high-speed data logging over extended periods. Integral communications include 10/100 BaseT Ethernet, USB 2.0 and an on-board module that provides flexible communications options.

By employing an ARM 7 processor on an intelligent I/O module, the Kingfisher G30 RTU can process inputs and outputs on a 1 ms interval with full sequence-of-events monitoring. It also provides high-resolution input acquisition, failsafe output modes, high-speed counting and pulse generation.

Unlike the "brick" style products in its class, the Kingfisher G30 RTU uses configurable modules for communications, I/O and AC. or DC. power. The modules provide the user considerable flexibility in meeting applications requirements and enable future upgrades.

The Kingfisher G30 RTU is ideal for applications in the oil and gas, power, telecom/broadcast, transportation and water/wastewater markets. This product is now available for immediate shipment from Semaphore.
