New SYZMO Remote Monitoring for MBX-Built Server Appliances Maximizes Application Uptime for Appliance-Based Software

SAN FRANCISCO, -- MBX Systems today announced the availability of SYZMO (System Zero Fault Monitoring), a 24x7x365 remote monitoring solution designed to protect software applications deployed on MBX server appliances from hardware-related service interruptions.

Customized for each customer application and installed on MBX-built hardware, SYZMO continuously feeds appliance operational data to the MBX data center for detection of anomalies that indicate a risk of component or system failure. Significant changes in CPU power, fluctuating system temperatures, drive failure, excessive restarts or other key indicators trigger automatic alerts, allowing swift intervention to avoid application downtime.

MBX's ability to tailor the SYZMO software to the monitoring needs of the specific application makes it possible to flag non-standard events and anomalies such as tampering with an intrusion prevention switch or generation of any system-level messages. This minimizes the risk of malfunction by enabling more precise and thorough measurement of system operation.

Benefits for software vendors utilizing an appliance-based delivery model include:

-- Predictive failure capabilities, alerting end users to the need to swap replacement components in the field as a preventive measure before a failure occurs.

-- Portal-based end user access to real-time appliance health information, including easy drilldown to key data such as the platform, serial number, end user, system or component problem, fault date, and action taken for each alert.

-- Improved customer service and satisfaction, achieved by proactively identifying and resolving problems before they affect end user activities.

Software vendors have the option to monitor portal data and resolve alerts themselves, engage MBX to provide 24x7x365 monitoring services and advise them when problems occur, or contract with MBX for full support including both monitoring and problem resolution with end users.

"With the rise of the optimized system model for deploying software, application developers need a way to ensure 100% uptime for customer appliances in the field," said Justin Formella, Chief Information Officer of MBX Systems. "SYZMO is essentially an early warning system that makes it possible to detect and resolve hardware problems before they cause an application outage that cripples an enterprise."

The software will be demonstrated at the MBX Systems booth #544 at the RSA® Conference 2011 that opens today in San Francisco.
