Eaton Corporation's Cutler-Hammer New WebPONI Remote Interface Simplifies Power Management
PITTSBURGH, PA. Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation launches its newest power management technology, the WebPONI, which allows remote access to electrical meter information utilizing existing Ethernet networks and common web browsers. The WebPONI is a breakthrough in the energy management marketplace for Eaton's Cutler-Hammer electrical power distribution and control business.
The WebPONI is designed for industrial, commercial and utility applications in which facility managers are interested in power management/monitoring systems where there are a limited number of devices and the focus is on flexible and intuitive software solutions. This product, coupled with a meter or relay, provides a complete turnkey remote monitoring solution for simple power monitoring systems with no required installation of remote software other than a web browser that usually comes installed on every Windows computer.
"The WebPONI puts a web server right on the meter or relay, all you need is built right into the product," says Thomas Domitrovich, product manager with the company's Cutler-Hammer business. "Using a computer and a web browser enables remote users to always access their electrical distribution system information no matter where they may be. In addition, the WebPONI can send an e-mail message to alert the user of an abnormal condition sensed by the meter or relay."
The WebPONI is powered directly from the host meter, and presents to the user as simple web pages electrical metering information, including voltages, currents, energy and power,
from any Eaton Cutler-Hammer MP-3000 motor protection relay, IQ DP-4000 electrical distribution meter or IQ Analyzer power quality meter. The user can even view waveforms via the WebPONI captured by the IQ Analyzer for remote power quality monitoring.
Additionally, its small size mounts easily onto the back of any MP-3000, IQ DP-4000 or IQ Analyzer series of meters.
