Remote Control IR Receiver offers low, 0.8 mm profile.

Press Release Summary:

TSOP57x series of remote control infrared receivers combine height of 0.8 mm, wide angle of sensitivity of 150°, and receiving distance of 40 m. At an off-axis angle of 45°, receiver retains 85% of on-axis sensitivity. Noise suppression technology has peak sensitivity of 940 nm and offers modulation frequencies of 36 kHz, 38 kHz, 40 kHz, and 56 kHz. Receivers do not use lens and are designed for TV's, set-top boxes, stereo systems, and in-room air-conditioners.

Vishay Intertechnology Releases Ultra-Low-Profile IR Receivers for Remote Control With Height of 0.8 mm

MALVERN, Pa. -- Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (VSH: NYSE) today broadens its optoelectronics portfolio with the introduction of remote control receivers with the industry's best combination of size and angle of sensitivity. Devices in the new TSOP57x series (which includes the TSOP572.., TSOP573.., TSOP574.., and TSOP575.. devices) combine an ultra-low height of 0.8 mm, one of the lowest on the market, with a phenomenally wide angle of sensitivity of 150°. The receivers feature Vishay's hallmark sensitivity, resulting in a receiving distance of 40 m.

Flat-panel LCD and plasma TV displays continue to get thinner, which means that the components inside them need to get thinner as well, without compromising performance. But it's not just TV sets that need low-profile infrared receivers. Set-top boxes, stereo systems, and in-room air-conditioners also need to accommodate IR receivers within a highly constrained area.

Vishay's TSOP57x IR receivers respond to this need with a height of just 0.8 mm - thinner than a house key. The new TSOP57x IR receivers have no lens, yet they provide on-axis sensitivity equal to any surface-mount receiver on the market.
At an off-axis angle of 45°, the receivers' sensitivity is much better than devices with a lens, retaining 85 % of their on-axis sensitivity. Because remote control receivers are placed behind cosmetic windows that typically absorb some infrared light, this high sensitivity allows the TSOP57x series to outperform other surface-mount receivers on the market.

The receivers feature Vishay's intelligent automatic gain control (AGC), providing the industry's best noise suppression in versions that include AGC2, -3, -4, and -5. They have peak sensitivity of 940 nm and are available in modulation frequencies of 36 kHz, 38 kHz, 40 kHz, and 56 kHz.

The devices feature an environmentally friendly "green" construction compliant to RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU and in accordance to WEEE 2002/96/EC.
Samples and production quantities of the TSOP572.., TSOP573.., TSOP574.., and TSOP575.. are available now, with lead times of six to eight weeks for larger orders. Pricing for U.S. delivery only in 1,000-piece quantities is $1.00 per piece. Follow infrared receivers from Vishay at twitter.com/vishayindust.
