RELM's Next-Generation P25 Digital Portable Radio Receives Equipment Authorization from the Federal Communications Commission

WEST MELBOURNE, Fla., Dec. 4 -- RELM Wireless Corporation (AMEX:RWC) today announced that its newest P25 digital portable radio, the BK Radio KNG P150, has received equipment authorization from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for use in the United States. The KNG P150 provides interoperability under the Project 25 standard (P25) established by the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials - International (APCO).

"The arrival of the KNG P150 is a significant step for RELM and represents the first product in a comprehensive line of next generation P25 portable and mobile radios. Designed to answer users' calls for smaller, lighter units with class-A performance specifications, the KNG P150 is an important addition to our P25 product line, which we believe enhances our capability to address new opportunities for RELM, including those in Homeland Security and the Department of Defense," commented RELM President and CEO, David Storey. "We are anxiously anticipating the market launch of this portable radio and plan to follow with additional portable and mobile models in the months ahead."

About APCO Project 25 (P25)

APCO Project 25 (P25), which requires interoperability among equipment regardless of the manufacturer, was established by the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials - International and is approved by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The shift toward interoperability has gained momentum as a result of significant communications failures during events such as the Oklahoma City bombings, the 9/11 attacks and Hurricane Katrina. RELM was one of the first manufacturers to develop equipment with P25 technology.
