New ChangeOver System from Scott Specialty Gases Prevents Gas Outages, Improves Efficiency and Protects Gas Purity
Plumsteadville, PA-Scott Specialty Gases has introduced the Model 8404 Automatic ChangeOver Regulator System to eliminate costly downtime by providing constant uninterrupted flow of specialty gases. The new system reduces operating costs by permitting scheduled cylinder change-outs, and prevents outages and wasted gas due to premature cylinder change-out. The Model 8404 also protects system purity by allowing line purging and cleaning before adding a new gas supply.
Scott's compact system combines a pressure-reducing regulator with diaphragm valves to direct flow of gas from two separate high-pressure cylinders (or banks of cylinders) to the point of use. When one gas source empties, the system automatically draws from the second source. A built-in line regulator prevents fluctuations in pressure downstream. Meanwhile, the first gas source can be changed without interruption of outlet pressure.
Constructed of powder-coated steel, the Model 8404 is cleaned for oxygen service and is available with either brass or 316L wetted body materials. Delivery pressure is adjustable from zero to 200 psig (0 to 13.8 bar). A safe purge vent in rear of panel protects operators. A pressure switch with annunciator can be added for remote alert when gas supply change-out is necessary. Other options include flash arrester, flow limit shutoff valves as well as pressure relief and check valves.
