REGO-FIX® PowRgrip® to Pack Precision and Performance at TECMA

Toolholding system a great alternative to shrink-fit and hydraulic clamping solutions

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.- At TECMA 2013, taking place March 5-8 at the Expo Bancomer Sante Fe in Mexico City, the REGO-FIX powRgrip Toolholding Collet System will be on display in Stand No. 635. Visitors to the Stand, operated by EXSYS Tool, Inc., will experience how the system delivers superior run-out, maximum clamping force, high-vibration dampening and easy toolholder assembly.

Ideal for use in a variety of machining applications, such as milling, drilling, reaming and tapping, the cost-effective powRgrip System consists of a shallow-tapered collet, a toolholder with matching taper and a tabletop hydraulic press. The hydraulic press generates up to nine tons of force to clamp the tool and collet into the toolholder. Such superior clamping forces make the powRgrip System well suited for high-performance or high-speed cutting applications. For unclamping, all it takes is reversing the compression cycle.

Unlike other clamping systems that use heat or hydraulics to expand the material, powRgrip safely uses the mechanical properties of the toolholder material to generate its tremendous gripping force with run-out below 0.0001". As a result, manufacturers can expect long cutting tool life and superior surface finishes.

Designed for quick, easy operation, the powRgrip System takes less than 10 seconds to press in a tool or remove it from the holder, saving manufacturers time and money. Its two-button operation helps users save time as well as reduce operation errors. Furthermore, because the powRgrip System does not require heat, manufacturers can utilize their tools immediately after a tool change.

The interchangeable collets for powRgrip are available from 1/8" up to 1" and will hold both carbide and HSS tools. Metric sizes for these collets are also available.

powRgrip toolholders feature a highly precise internal taper that accepts the matching taper of the collets. For most of the taper designs, there are multiple nose-profile options, including the new slim-nose powRgrip 6 toolholder, or PG6.

The PG6 has a minimal outside diameter of 10 mm (0.4") and a clamping diameter ranging from 0.2 mm to 3.175 mm (0.008" to 0.125"). Because of its small, slim design, the PG6 provides less tool interference, easily machines tight pockets and delivers high levels of productivity. Furthermore, the PG6 has a run-out accuracy of <3 ìm and provides quick, simple and safe tool changes.

In addition to the latest PG6, powRgrip now offers secuRgrip, an option for difficult machining applications that require advanced cutting tool security. secuRgrip utilizes powRgrip's tremendous gripping strength in combination with a patented locking key system and threaded cap. These two additional levels of cutting tool security bring enhanced confidence to specialized applications such as expensive castings or complex parts.

secuRgrip is applicable for use with REGO-FIX PG 25 or PG 32 holders in all tapers, including CAT, BT, TC, HSK, CAPTO and dual contact REGO PLUS. Licensed by BIG Daishowa, REGO PLUS products are compatible with all BIG PLUS spindles.

EXSYS Tool, Inc. is an authorized distributor of the powRgrip System in
Mexico.
