ASCO Offers Enhanced Redundant Control System

FLORHAM PARK, NEW JERSEY, March 17, 2008 - ASCO, the world's leading manufacturer of solenoid valves, is offering an enhanced version of its Redundant Control System (RCS). The company also introduced a new online configuration tool that makes it easy for customers to select an RCS solution that meets the specific needs of their application.

"Our RCS solution combines the benefits of safety and reliability in a single package," said Robert W. Kemple Jr., Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing, ASCO. "It's the only pilot valve system that has no single point of failure that can result in an unwanted closure of the process valve."

The RCS achieves higher levels of safety by incorporating a redundant, fault-tolerant architecture, high diagnostic coverage, and automated testing. Its self-diagnostic capabilities test both the safety system and process valve to ensure continuous proper operating performance

"With the RCS, customers will benefit from higher asset availability, less risk of spurious trips, and safe shut downs of mission critical systems, time after time," said Kemple.

The enhanced RCS offers higher flow rates for larger process valve configurations, making it ideal for use across a wide variety of oil and gas, refining, and power generation applications. In addition, the system is third-party certified for use in IEC 61508 SIL 3 applications and has received system approvals for ATEX Zone 1.

New Online Configurator Enables Simplified Product Selection
ASCO has introduced an online product selection tool that makes it easy to configure the RCS system. Customers can quickly determine the product features required in their application and then can construct a catalog number. Product attributes, top-level and wiring drawings, and SIL 3 information also are provided. The RCS configurator is available at www.ascovalve.com/RCSConfigurator.
