Original Press Release:

Dodge® E-Z Kleen Tigear-2(TM) Reducer Brings Superior Corrosion Resistance and Sealing to Food and Beverage Industry Applications

GREENVILLE, SC (February 27, 2004) Providing food and beverage industry engineers and OEMs with a solution for their harsh duty applications, Rockwell Automation introduces the new DODGE E-Z KLEEN TIGEAR-2 reducer. The newest addition to the TIGEAR-2 family of single-reduction right angle worm speed reducers, this reducer is designed specifically for the washdown conditions of the food and beverage industry.

The key to the E-Z KLEEN TIGEAR-2 reducer's superior corrosion resistance is the 13-step coating system, which provides greater than three times the corrosion resistance of standard epoxy painted units. In addition, all E-Z KLEEN TIGEAR-2 reducers come standard with stainless steel output shafts or hubs and stainless steel hardware for further corrosion protection.

To ensure that the interior of the reducer is as protected as the exterior, each E-Z KLEEN TIGEAR-2 reducer comes standard with a two-piece harsh duty sealing system that excludes high pressure sprays and sanitizing solutions. The sealing system offers a rubber seal ID sleeve for ease of installation and protection from corrosive sprays, an axial sealing lip for superior water and contamination exclusion, a stainless steel OD seal half with an additional positive contact lip seal, and a grease-packed labyrinth seal for extended life and greater sealing protection.

The E-Z KLEEN TIGEAR-2 reducer is available in sizes 13 though 40 in Quill, Adaptable, and Separate Input configurations and in solid and hollow bore output configurations. Hollow bore configurations can utilize the DODGE stainless steel GRIP TIGHT(TM) tapered bushing system for industry-leading ease in installation and removal. For additional convenience of operation and maintenance, all units come factory-filled for any recommended mounting position with a synthetic lubricant that meets H1 food grade requirements and accommodates a wide range of operating temperatures.

Engineered to offer increased value in a cost-competitive product that lowers a user's total cost of ownership, the entire TIGEAR-2 line of reducers utilize a new gear geometry to deliver on average a 30% increase in output torque (up to 6,800 in-lbs), allowing designers to choose smaller sizes for their applications without compromising service life. Because of the consistent torque capacity increments between case sizes, equipment designers can optimize reducer size selections for reduced cost, increased performance, and longer life.
