RedSky Technologies Issued New Patent for Next Generation 9-1-1 Networks

New Patent Builds on Patented E-LIS Technology for Next Generation 9-1-1 Networks

CHICAGO - RedSky Technologies, Inc., the leading provider of automated E911 solutions, today announced that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) has issued patent number 8,755,767 which expands on RedSky's innovative Emergency Location Information Service (E-LIS) product patents.

This patent discloses that emergency messages can and will be generated by a variety of devices using Near Field (NFC) and Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communications and that these messages will need to be translated into formats usable by legacy and new IP-based emergency services networks.

RedSky's E-LIS encompasses the architecture, process and system elements for receiving, storing and delivering the location data of any device on any network when the device dials 9-1-1. This new patent specifically details a method for receiving emergency messages from Near Field Communications devices and via Machine-to-Machine communications as well as detailing systems and methods to request current location data for mobile and non-mobile phones from other telecom servers, conversion of (x,y,z) coordinates to a current geophysical location and the formatting of emergency messages for delivery to legacy or new Emergency Services IP networks.

"This latest RedSky patent describes methods for receiving an emergency message from virtually any device," says Jerry Eisner, ENP, RedSky's Group Director of Public Safety. "The RedSky Horizon E-LIS network can take the emergency message, add geographic intelligence to it, format it and send it to emergency responders on legacy and new IP-based emergency networks (ESInets)."

The RedSky E-LIS is consistent with and compatible to the National Emergency Number Association (NENA) 'i3' standard, the blueprint for next generation emergency services networks for public safety.

"This new patent demonstrates our leadership and commitment to providing solutions for our enterprise customers as they implement Unified Communications and wireless networks," says Tony Maier, RedSky's Chief Executive Officer. "RedSky is committed to providing a standards-based approach to Next Generation Emergency Networks that will deliver lower costs and much better situational awareness for emergency service providers."
