Red Bend Surpasses 1 Billion Mobile Software Management Shipments

WALTHAM, Mass. - April 5, 2011 - Red Bend Software, the market leader in Mobile Software Management (MSM), today announced it has surpassed 1 billion software shipments. With this milestone, Red Bend joins a short list of companies whose software has been embedded in more than 1 billion mobile phones and connected devices.

The first Red Bend-Enabled(TM) mobile device - the Siemens Mobile S65 phone - shipped in the fourth quarter of 2005. In just five years, Red Bend's vRapid Mobile®, vDirect Mobile(TM) and VLX(TM) software products have been adopted in 730 different device models that have shipped more than 1 billion units from market leaders including Samsung, LG, ZTE, Sony Ericsson, Motorola, Sharp, Kyocera, Lenovo and ST-Ericsson.

"With this achievement, Red Bend becomes one of the few software companies to reach ubiquity in the mobile industry," said Andreas Constantinou, research director at VisionMobile.

According to the VisionMobile 100 Million Club report for the second half of 2010, issued on April 4, 2011, Red Bend is one of only five companies in the mobile industry to surpass 1 billion total embedded software shipments. "Companies only reach this level of success by creating innovative solutions that prove invaluable to both device manufacturers and network operators," Constantinou said. "By shipping its software in more than 1 billion devices, Red Bend has demonstrated both the value of its technology and its trusted position within the mobile industry."

Red Bend surpassed the 1 billion mark (1,004,000,000) as its software shipped in 89 million mobile devices in Q4 2010. Shipments were up 48 percent from fourth quarter 2009, outpacing overall mobile phone shipments, which rose 18 percent year over year, according to IDC.

"Reaching 1 billion Red Bend-Enabled devices in only five years is a remarkable achievement," said Red Bend CEO Yoram Salinger. "It is a tribute to the trust our customers and partners around the world place in us to help them manage so many devices for their consumers. And it is a credit to our employees and their dedication to innovation and service."

Red Bend's market-leading mobile software management and mobile virtualization products are used for managing firmware, applications and mobile devices over the air. With MSM, Red Bend enables device manufacturers and service providers to increase revenues, reduce support costs and achieve faster time to market by remotely managing their software assets across mobile devices and platforms.
