Heavy-Duty Rectangular Connectors From Molex Offer Removable Modules For Easier Assembly and Field Servicing
Simplify assembly, installation and field servicing with a new line of HMC(TM) heavy-duty rectangular connectors from Molex Incorporated. The HMC series is ideally suited for applications such as factory robots, machine tools, process and material handling equipment, and other industrial system applications.
The HMC connectors feature a crescent-shaped metal hood with a rotating lock on the cable side that can be actuated with one hand. This provides easy mating and unmating compared to the double bale-lock system used on the system side of most heavy duty rectangular connectors. These connectors also feature removable panel-mount housings, in either single or multi-module styles. Both types include user-friendly latches that enable housings to be removed by hand without the use of tools for easy field servicing.
The modular crimp housing design also provides easier harnessing compared to solder-cup termination and the ability to create various circuit size, current and hybrid signal/power contact arrangements. This modularity saves space compared to circular versions, which often require several connectors carrying specific contacts to do the work of one HMC-style connector. In addition, the same housing can be used on either the plug or receptacle side, providing flexibility for setting up power and signal lines specifically suited to each application.
The HMC series is available in panel-mount and wire-to-wire styles with vertical and right angle hoods in circuit sizes from 12 to 72. Signal versions are offered in 6, 12 and 13 amperes, and power versions in 20 and 35 amperes. The connectors carry various industry-standard ratings such as IP65, IP54, VDE 0110, TUV, UL and CSA.
Accessories include removable metal cable cap assemblies that provide wire organization and protection. A separate PVC guide bush protects against contaminants on external-thread hood styles. An integrated O-ring and bush assembly offer superior sealing on internal-thread hood versions.
