Record Year for Star Sliding-Head Lathes in Europe
Figures just released show that sales of new Star CNC mill-turning centres in Europe was well into four figures during 2007. It makes Star the leader in the sliding-headstock lathe sector by such a large margin that its sales are not far short of the total machines delivered by the second- and third-placed sliding-head lathe suppliers put together.
The information was collated from western European countries including the UK, but do not include machines installed in the old Eastern bloc, which are still relatively few at present.
Commented Star GB's managing director, Bob Hunt, "It is pleasing to see Star in the number one position in Europe. Last year's total represents a significant increase in unit sales of new machines over the previous year. World sales for Star were also buoyant in 2007, which turned out to be a record year for the Japanese manufacturer."
