Circuit Assembly Launches SCA-2 Product Line
Irvine, California (February 2002) - Circuit Assembly (CA) announces its new SCA-2 receptacles. SCA-2 (Single Connector Attachment-2) is a hard drive interface developed for SCSI and FC-AL systems - where devices make direct attachment with the backplane. The 80-pin receptacle supports the SCSI-3 protocol, while the 40-pin meets the Fibre Channel industry standard.
Incorporating power, options block and data signals into one single connector on the backplane, SCA-2 receptacles, along with the mating connectors, provide a substantial reduction in costs to manufacturers by eliminating the use of cables. With SCA-2,
manufacturers are able to use only two connectors compared to the previous twelve (three double ended cable assemblies and the mating connectors).
