CAS Announces New DataTaker DT82EM Environmental Data Logger

All the Functionality of the DT82E With Built-In GSM Modem

CHESTERLAND OH-CAS DataLoggers has partnered with bestselling manufacturer dataTaker to announce the new DT82EM Intelligent Environmental Data Logger with Internal Modem, a real-time data acquisition solution boasting the same functionality as the popular DT82E model but adding a built-in GSM modem with email and SMS support for automated data and alarm transfer from remote sites. Based on the successful DT8x platform, the ultra low-power DT82EM is designed specifically for remote data logging applications where conventional access to the logger is difficult or impractical, such as environmental monitoring, agriculture, weather stations, temperature profiling, wind power generation, and many others including mobile applications in vehicles. This extremely flexible, easy to use solution also provides an impressive array of advanced alarm and programming capabilities enabling the loggers to process measurements and initiate actions on their own.

This robust temperature monitoring solution features a built-in LCD display and 2 to 6 universal analog sensor channels at ± 30V input measurement range recording at 18-bit resolution. The DT82EM also features flexible digital channels and 4 bi-directional digital channels as well as an SDI-12 channel. The datalogger's Dual Channel Isolation allows 4, 2 wire differential or 6 common referenced analog inputs to be used in many combinations. Along with the analog and digital channels, 4 high-speed counter channels allow the DT82EM to easily connect to most data measurement sources and sensors including SDI-12 and Modbus. Temperature, voltage, current, 4-20mA loops, resistance, bridges, strain gauges, and frequency can all be scaled, logged and returned in engineering units or within statistical reporting.

The DT82EM's extensive communications features include HTTP, FTP, email and SMS using the internal GSM modem, Ethernet and USB memory stick data collection. Users can archive data on alarm event, copy to USB memory or transfer via FTP--the choice is theirs. User-defined memory stores up to 10 million data points, and users can log as much or as little as needed with independent control of schedule size and mode, and overwrite or stop logging once allocated memory is full. There's no need to travel long distances to access data-just utilize the internal modem's automatic data delivery features to schedule all data to be automatically emailed to a specified inbox every day, week, month, or other time interval. Configurable alarm conditions can also trigger data delivery in addition to sending alarm messages to multiple email addresses or mobile phones via SMS messaging.

The dataTaker DT82EM's durable and compact construction along with its wide operating temperature range of -45°C to 70°C (-49°F to 158°F) guarantees reliable operation in virtually any environment, and the device can also run on external battery or solar power for extended periods of time. Additionally, the failsafe DETERMINEDTM communications feature periodically retries downloads interrupted by network outages until the file gets through, so users never have to worry about data gaps.

Free dataTaker dEX software is included to allow users to quickly configure the data logger directly in a web browser, remotely access logged data, and monitor measurements in real-time, viewed as mimics or charts using a Windows Explorer-style graphical interface. Data download is performed using a standard web browser - no special software is required. This intuitive software guides the operator through configuration, suiting both new and experienced users. The DT82EM's integral modem is predominately preconfigured for simple setup using the dEX operator interface, and also enables users to reconfigure the remote monitoring system via the Internet.

CAS Applications Specialist Doug McVeen commented, "The new dataTaker environmental loggers with the modems built in are a great value for our customers, providing not only remote monitoring capability but also amazing durability. They're an ideal choice for environmental projects where communication is a top priority."
