Rayotek Scientific Inc's New Water Jet Cutter - Higher Precision, Faster Turn-Around

SAN DIEGO, California - Rayotek Scientific Inc.'s new, custom configured OMAX Water Jet Cutting System is now installed, tested and fully operational.

The new OMAX® JetMachining® Center was purchased specifically to meet customer's ongoing needs for high-precision, low-cost and quick-turn shaping of sapphire, fused quartz, fused silica, glass and ceramics. The 4-axis system will provide the ability to manufacture complex shapes quickly, with high precision and minimal waste. The System completely replaces traditional grinding technologies which are far more time-consuming and costly.

Rayotek, in partnership with OMAX, configured the OMAX® JetMachining® Center with maximum structural rigidity, customized software and precision optical positioning technology. The machine is designed to optimize accuracy in shaping hard, brittle materials and to provide repeatable accuracy for the cutting of patterned products. The new water jet system can also be used for rapid fabrication of specialized tooling and molds to meet quick turnaround demands.

"As customer requirements have evolved and Rayotek's business has expanded, the need for faster tool making, rapid prototyping and manufacturing flexibility has become a necessity. Over the past 12 months Rayotek has partnered with OMAX to configure the JetMachining® Center to ensure the precise shaping of our specialty materials - sapphire, fused quartz, fused silica, ceramic and glass." said Bill Raggio, Rayotek's founder and CTO.
