Raritan Solutions Power, Monitor and Control Cisco UCS Blades and Other Data Center Equipment at Cisco Live

SOMERSET, N.J. - Raritan®, a leading provider of intelligent data center management and rack power distribution, will be showing at the Cisco Live conference its solution portfolio for high-performance data centers, such as those built on Cisco's Unified Computing System (UCS) blade servers, Cisco Nexus switches, and other components of the Cisco data center platform.

"Data center managers are looking for simple and reliable solutions to power their equipment and configure and manage their infrastructure from anywhere," says David Wood, Director-Power Business at Raritan.  "Our intelligent rack power distribution units (iPDUs) not only power equipment in cabinets reliably and efficiently, but they also tell us how healthy data centers are performing and enable us to make changes remotely.  It's all the little things in our PDUs – the easy-to-find color chassis, SecureLock™ power cords, remote power control, and an open API – that add up to make a big difference in flexible configuration, automation and deployment."

Wood will be discussing the Raritan iPDU's open API in his talk-- "Introducing Raritan Flex Config and Zero Touch Deployment, the easiest way to leverage your PDU infrastructure" – on Tuesday, July 12, at 5:30 pm in the Cisco Live show floor theater.

From Booth 2436, Raritan will be showing its iPDU and serial console solutions installed in Legrand's Ortronics Might Mo racks:

Raritan iPDUs include three-phase 60A iPDU models that can deliver up to 22kVA and can support optional temperature and humidity sensors to monitor blade server inlet temperatures.  Information on energy and infrastructure health collected from servers and equipment connected to Raritan's networked iPDUs can be shared with Cisco EnergyWise or any DCIM (data center infrastructure management) solution on the market for additional analysis.

Raritan uses an Open API with JSON-RPC Protocol for its PDU firmware, which allows scripting from major programming languages.  As a result, users can configure any measurement or alert threshold through the API.  With real-time detailed power information, alerts and remote management controls from Raritan iPDUs, data centers can prevent downtime and implement energy saving policies -- such as automating equipment to shut down at times equipment will not be in use.  The iPDU's bulk configuration and firmware upgrade capabilities also help customers save time and costs.

The Raritan SX II serial console builds on more than 10 years and 500 million hours of operation success of the original SX.  The SX II provides one point of control to manage a wide range of IT equipment -- including Cisco's routers, switches, blade servers -- and Raritan iPDUs.  It enables IT professionals to access, monitor and control all their serial devices remotely and securely.   The Dominion® KX III, the fastest KVM-over-IP switch and one of the most widely deployed, also will be on display.
