Rapiscan Systems Receives $18 Million Order for Cargo and People Screening Systems

Rapiscan Systems, a leader in advanced security screening solutions, today announced that it has received an $18 million order to provide Eagle® cargo and vehicle inspection systems and its Secure 1000® advanced people screening systems to support a U.S. Government agency.

OSI Systems (Rapiscan's parent company) CEO, Deepak Chopra, stated, "We are excited that our customers continue to rely on our high tech screening solutions for cargo and personnel. In contrast to other cargo solutions that use a technology that does not see threats hidden near the center of packed cargo containers, our proprietary Eagle® technology is capable of detecting threats hidden deep inside containers and vehicles and provides a detailed image highlighting the size and location of the potential threat." Mr. Chopra continued: "The Secure 1000, referred to by some as a "Body Scanner", is capable of detecting explosives and non-metallic weapons hidden on a person's body. In fact, the Secure 1000 is proven to have the highest level of security detection capabilities in this product category. These products are examples of our relentless dedication to providing advanced solutions to customers in the security industry."

The Rapiscan Eagle® Cargo and Vehicle Inspection Systems

Rapiscan Systems offers a wide variety of cargo screening technologies in mobile, portal, gantry and fixed-site configurations through its Eagle high-energy X-ray product line. These products can inspect cargo and vehicles for contraband such as explosives, weapons and narcotics.

The Rapiscan Secure 1000®

Used worldwide by aviation authorities, military organizations, homeland security, and police and correctional facilities, the Secure 1000 is the most widely deployed advanced people screening solution. It has been approved by the U.S. Transportation Security Administration and the UK Department for Transport and is being deployed at airports in the U.S. and the UK. It is ideal for high security environments because unlike traditional metal detectors, it can detect organic and non-metallic items (e.g. plastic explosives, liquids, narcotics, ceramic weapons), as well as metallic threat items.
