RapidShield Concrete Protection Wins the Most Innovative Product Award

Conshohocken, PA (July 14, 2009) - RapidShield(TM) UV-cured Floor Coating which meets LEED guidelines, was named the 2009 Most Innovative Product (MIP) in the Placement and Finishing Category at the 2009 World of Concrete. This seventh annual event was sponsored by CONCRETE & MASONRY CONSTRUCTION PRODUCTS. The MIP contest showcases many of the new products being exhibited at World of Concrete, and gives show attendees a chance to vote for the products they believe are the most innovative. A panel of industry experts also reviews the products in terms of the innovation they bring to the industry.

One of concrete's few downsides is the amount of time a contractor, and customer, must wait while concrete coatings cure. That waiting time has been significantly reduced, from days and hours down to seconds, thanks to RapidShield(TM) from California-based Epmar Corporation, a subsidiary of Quaker Chemical. Epmar Corporation has over 30 years of experience in developing, manufacturing, and marketing low- and zero-VOC coatings. RapidShield(TM) offers an easy-to-clean, stain-resistant and durable concrete floor coating. One of the benefits of RapidShield(TM) is a one-component concrete coating formulation, which means there is no mixing required, an unlimited pot life, and the a long shelf life. "In addition, it is nonflammable, low in odor and environmentally friendly. Many of our contractors have indicated this floor coating system has allowed one person normally used for mixing on a typical crew to add productivity in other ways," says Roger Chmura, North American Business Manager.

RapidShield(TM) was developed with a large amount of assistance from its customers. "Customers want to reduce chemical consumption and maintenance associated with chemicals used in manufacturing facilities, improve overall quality and environmental compliance, as well as safety. We worked with our customers to come up with the RapidShield(TM) formulation that does all of the above, meets LEED guidelines, and makes their facility floor 'tour ready' at all times," says Chmura. "We have received literally hundreds of inquiries from applicators, as well as distributors and end users, seeking more information and to become involved in RapidShield(TM) concrete coating installation and/or the supply chain."

RapidShield(TM) is a floor coating system ideal for places that require concrete protection, such as warehouses, manufacturing plants, automotive plants, food/beverage facilities, parking garages, grocery stores, retail stores and other areas that cannot tolerate long shutdowns or interrupted production due to cure times, or environmental considerations of a conventional concrete coating.

RapidShield(TM), which meets LEED guidelines, is a high-performance, UV-curable floor coating system. Not only does it comply with VOC and HAPs environmental mandates, but it is the most cost-effective method for concrete protection. RapidShield(TM) offers a single component concrete coating formulation and a mobile curing unit.
