(Elyria, Ohio) The new RIDGID® 6" Random Orbit Sander (Model R2610) is a top-of-the line sander designed for heavy-duty professional production work. The R2610 is the only sander on the market with dual random orbit settings for fine finish work and aggressive material removal. It also has a number of features, including electronic feedback and Micro Fiber(TM) hook and loop sanding pad, which are designed to increase user productivity.

The R2610 has electronic speed control (4,000 to 10,000 rpm), which provides the unit with constant feedback to maintain a consistent speed under any load. The dual random orbit settings, which are an exclusive RIDGID feature, allow the user to set the orbits at 1/8" for a high-quality finish, or 1/4" to aggressively remove material at a rate 30 percent faster than similar sanders on the market today. The sander also features an integrated pad brake, which helps to prevent gouging of the work piece during accidental startups.
The unit is remarkably vibration-free, and users will immediately notice its smooth operation due to its tough, cast aluminum bearing frame.
The Micro Fiber(TM) hook and loop sanding pad feature means that hook and loop sandpaper attaches so tightly to the pad that there is virtually no dust build-up on the pad, providing for longer pad life, even in a high production environment.
Through-the-pad dust collection is efficient with a large cloth dust bag or by shop vacuum. For vacuum operation, the R2610 comes with an adaptor for 1-1/4" and 2-1/4" vacuum hoses.
The front handle of the R2610, which provides additional grip and control, can be easily removed for work in tight areas. All of the sander's handles are covered with a rubber overmold to provide extra grip and comfort.
The R2610 includes RIDGID's exclusive cord package. This package features a 12-foot all rubber power cord, providing extra reach without an extension cord. The rubber cord is more durable than a plastic cord and stays flexible in cold weather. The cord also has a lighted plug, which confirms when the tool is "live," featuring a backlit icon of the tool for easy identification. This feature also reduces confusion on busy jobsites where many tool cords are often plugged into one central power strip. Finally, a Velcro(TM) cord wrap organizes the cord neatly for storage, eliminating knots and tangles.
